The first hikers to reach highway 36 report 150 miles of hundreds of
blowdowns before highway 36. They also report that Lassen is clear of snow
except for a portion between Cingular and Old Station. They report walking
straight through Lassen Park, not taking the Reading Fire detour.

These same hikers report difficult snow conditions before and after each of
the high passes in the Sierra. They left the trail at Muir, the most
adventurous of them saying Muir Pass was too difficult right now (this was
10 days or so ago). They skipped to Donner and continued north, going back
later to finish their miles.

They, as did someone else, reported that someone had cut steps in the chute
at Forester. Some of these hikers went around Forester, some crossed the
rocks before the chute and climbed up the rocks on the other side to the
trail.
