Soon the only way to do that trail is to hike some kind of combo south bound/flip flop/off season hike. But, last year on the PCT I found that I would get to town and find all the rooms full. I was at least a week or more ahead of the pack. There are now so many of us. That's why I wrote that other post about the serial binge drinking/bad behavior causing such a negative impact on the trail. I can't find that post so maybe it got lost in the ether. Maybe that's why I enjoyed the GDT and AZT so much. At least for a little while you will get to do those alone. But nothing can take away the beauty of the Sierras,Trinity Alps,Cascades, desert ---no matter how many people Marmot
