The Spot worked fine for me all along the CDT this past summer, and worked
well enough to bring about the rescue of a CDT thru hiker in 2010 when he
seriously injured himself in the early season snow of Glacier NP.  I met
this hiker in 2011 in the Cascades as he was finishing his PCT thru hike
and it was after hearing his harrowing story that I decided to get a Spot
for my thru hike.  He reported that a helicopter was dispatched and picked
him up in a matter of a few hours and without question saved his life.
