[pct-l] Camping on Mount Whitney

Years ago, during the 1950's, I slept in the hut - but, I had arrived after the afternoon storm. The sky had cleared. It was great to witness both sunset and sunrise. I was alone on the summit.  That was my first camp during a hike to Mineral king.

I disagree with that statement.

The people who died in that hut  did so because they took shelter
during a storm. Sleeping in it is not a problem.

Simply being in it during a storm is a problem. If a storm is
threatening, get of that piece of rock. You don't want to be up there
at all.

OTOH, I have slept on top of Whitney a few times, always when it was
clear. Sunrise is spectacular.
