Personally, I think using a bandanna or the like as a pre-filter is
brilliant in the desert. Catches enough of the larger stuff, the damp cloth
will help cool for a while afterwards, (germaphobe warning: STOP READING
NOW!!!] and I might as well reuse some of the salt I've been sweating out!
(I warned you, but you read it anyways, didn't you ;-)
