[pct-l] Audio Books

My local library has audio books that I can check out online for free,  so part of a town stop is downloading another book or two on Wi-Fi. Works great for occasional boring stretches.

I actually do use audio books when doing my local neighborhood walks.   I 
walk the same one-mile loop that I've walked (or ran) for nearly 35 years so 
it does get a bit boring.  The audio books provide a way to catch up on my 
reading while still getting my daily exercise.  So yes!  Audio books are a 
bit expensive so I try to find a non-fiction book that's fairly long.  Right 
now I'm listening to "Lawrence In Arabia", highly recommended!  So much so 
that I'm trying to find a map that depicts that region (Near East) during 
the WWI era.

Try audio books they are a bit safer then reading but still enjoyable.

Back in my day, not only were there no portable electronics, I don't
think
electricity had been discovered. And we carried stupidly heavy packs so
our
break strategy (collapse often and for long periods) has no relevance
today.

But I had to respond to your comment about paperbacks. In the most
boring
stretches of Oregon forest, I actually read a paperback book while I
hiked.
Only a few times did I stumble over a root or rock, and it made the
miles
pass much more quickly.
