Oh, don't worry, Brick. I'm not going to report anyone.

As I previously said, I will testify at the trial having to do with the fire set by these devices. You can, too.

you must LOVE having bagged some PR guy who has no idea of what a alcohol stove is, and so negating a definition that agencies have used for years. And so, you've made our forests more vulnerable to a firestorm.
what a guy....

the message copied below from a BLM employee says that the "controlled flame device" wording allows Alcohol and Esbit stoves with a permit. It seems that Ken Murray won't have to report any scofflaw stove users to the authorities, and that maybe the PCTA should change the wording they made up on their fire alerts page. Thank you James for getting this response from the BLM and forwarding to the list On Fri, Apr 11, 2014 at 12:37 PM, James Vesely <JVesely at sstinternational.com> wrote: > > > From: Razo, Stephen [mailto:srazo at blm.gov] > Sent: Friday, April 11, 2014 11:05 AM > To: James Vesely > Subject: Re: FW: [pct-l] Alcohol and Esbit Stoves > > I'm not the fire district lead... however in discussion with the fire folks...the statement below is the definitive answer. There seems to be a lot of misconception on what is acceptable and what is not. If you are unfamiliar with alcohol or Esbit backpack cooking stoves a quick Google search will clear that up. > > Thanks and best regards, > > Jim > > -----Original Message----- > From: pct-l-bounces at backcountry.net<mailto:pct-l-bounces at backcountry.net> [mailto:pct-l-bounces at backcountry.net<mailto:pct-l-bounces at backcountry.net>] On Behalf Of Wolfgang Greystoke > Sent: Thursday, April 10, 2014 10:02 PM > To: pct-l at backcountry.net<mailto:pct-l at backcountry.net> > Subject: [pct-l] Alcohol and Esbit Stoves > > To clear this up and stop the fear mongering and stove bashing, > > Here is the links to the BLM regulations and directives. > > PAGE 1: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/info/newsroom/2014/january/firerestrictions-CDD.htmlBLM Initiates Stage III Fire Restrictions in Portions of the California Desert District > > > PAGE 2: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/cdd/fire/fire_restrictions.html > BLM Fire Restrictions > > There is NO definition of what a controlled flame is in the BLM Titles and regulations and or the directives.
