Please specify which Bear Vault redesign you mean.  They have redesigned it a
couple of times now as there has been more than one failure over the
years of its
existence.  If you are referring to the current design, I'm not aware of any
current failures YET.  But past designs took a couple of years before some
failures turned up as it takes the bears time to figure them out so I wouldn't
just assume that there won't eventually be failures.

If you want to defend a bear can design, I suggest you stick with the Garcia can
(Backpacker's Cache) since its the oldest with the best history which is one of
the reasons its the one that the Rangers normally rent out.  But everyone really
hates that design.  As an owner of one since '98, I know I really hate
that thing.
