Marmot,

There’s lots of reasons to attend the ALDHA-West Winter Ruck,
and your post makes the point quite nicely.
Thank’s for the heads up.

For some unknown reason,
about half of everyone’s post(s) ends up stretched out- mine included.
I’ve taken the liberty to format yours for ease of reading.
I have two choices... Plain text, or Rich text (HTML).
I'm going to choose one and post.
Maybe I’ll learn something???

Here is the line up for the ALDHA-West Winter Ruck.
Held Sat Feb 22 at Cascade Locks.
This is a chance to have someone go through your pack.
Ask all your questions !!!!!
Those of you who live in the Pacific Northwest
this will be some real help before the you leave on on the trail or to get 
ready for a hike in future years.
"Allgood" Whitney LaRuffa-President of ALDHA-West,
is also a thru-hiker, ultra light backpacker and winter sport expert.
He will be on hand to help with pack shakedowns,
and be co talking on snow safety, travel,
and safely crossing streams and rivers during the runoff season.
Glen Van Peski-Founder of Gossamer Gear will be talking about ways to go 
light,
success and failures he has had,
and will be helping folks lighten their packs and be on hand to answer your 
Ultra Light questions,
Ron Moak with Six Moon designs will be there,
if the weather is good he will set up some tents for everyone to check out.
Ron will also be there to answer UL questions and help throughout the day.
"Ravensong" Carolyn Burkhart-- Board Member at Large,
was the first woman complete a solo thru-hike of the PCT in 1977.
Besides being a thru-hiker she is also a winter/snow expert
and will be teaching a class with "Allgood" on snow safety.
She will also be available to talk about hiking kids on trail
and informing PCT thru-hikers about her new trail angel set up by Harts 
Pass.
Carrot Quinn, "Scrub" Chris Burke, and "Hops" Bryce Alison are three class 
of 2013 PCT
Thru-hikers, who will share their tips on navigation, data sources etc..
and answer any questions you might have.
Triple Crowners in attendance -
"SoFar" Scotland Forbes-Treasurer, "Freefall" Chris Sanderson-Board Member 
at Large,
"Lint" Clint Bunting, "Tomato" Brian Boshart.
these folks have all completed their Triple Crown and are avid SUL hikers.
they will be on hand helping shakedown packs, answering questions and 
talking trail food,
resupply strategy and where you need to make sure to send a box.
"Drop and Roll" Kate Hoch hiked the PCT in 2011 and the CDT in 2013-
She will be entertaining us with her tales of the CDT and giving everyone a 
thru-hikers perspective on the trail.
Dana Hendrix with PCTA will be there to answer your questions on the PCT,
the PCTA and what you can do to help the trail that you love.
Also in attendance will be "Clever Hiker" Dave Collins POCT and alum and 
owner of Clever Hiker.
He has how to videos for folks to learn about going light.
"Sidartha" Jeff Kish writer for Gear Junkie and PCT alum
plus some other Portland area thru-hikers and trail angels will round out 
the crew.
If the line up isn't enough to make you want to come-maybe the free lunch, 
and snack will help.
Still not convinced well Thunder Island Brewing is right next door
and will be providing special discount prices on beers and growlers for 
those in attendance.
And lastly we have a gear raffle going on at the event so bring some cash
we have gear from ENO, Kahtoola, and Gossamer Gear to name a few.
