It sounds like a Feb start would make excellent sense. Get the hot sections over with.
Campo to Mojave, or better yet, to Kennedy Meadows.
Get off the trail. Go home to rest and re-set your kit and resupply boxes for the Sierra.
Attend the ADZPCTKO to offer current trail conditions, especially the Idyllwild alternate routing.
Rejoin the Herd at KM for the Sierra trek, or if snow levels stay as low as current and after the KO, return to KM and keep going north until forced to halt.
Take another break, then return to finish the trail.

Caveat: probably not a viable alternative for those from another country.
