[pct-l] Ultralight tent for 2 recommendation

Hello Yalo -

Big Agnes tents are fantastic. However, I would recommend the Copper Spur
instead of the Seedhouse.

Compare pictures of these two tents. See how the Copper Spur has the
crossbar at the top? The top of the Seedhouse is in the shape of an A.
With the Seedhouse, your heads will constantly be pressed against the
sides/top of the tent when you sit up. The crossbar on the Copper Spur
prevents that from happening. Imagine two people trying to change clothes,
pack/unpack sleeping bags and pads, pack packs inside both tents. The
crossbar on the Copper Spur creates MUCH more space.

Another major consideration is the doors. The Seedhouse has a front
entrance, which means crawling in and out of the tent. The Copper Spur has
two side doors with vestibules. One person doesn't bother the other when
getting out of the tent. Also, it is MUCH easier to get out of a side door
than a front door. MUCH EASIER. With the side door, you just swing your
legs out and stand up. No crawling. In addition, two vestibules means you
each have space for your packs and dirty shoes outside the tent. If you
put two packs in the Seedhouse vestibule, I suspect you'll have even more
trouble crawling out.

If there is an outdoor store near you, go there and set up these two tents
in the store side by side. Lay out two sleeping bags inside the tent. You
and your daughter get inside and lay down, sit up, get in/out. Put a
couple packs in the vestibules. If you both can't be there together, ask a
store clerk to get in the tents with you. "Try on" tents in the store,
just like you would with shoes or clothing.

The Copper Spur is only 2 ounces and $50 more than the Seedhouse, and
believe me it's 2 ounces and $50 well spent.

Have a great hike.
