If you're going to the Kickoff, you might talk to Mtn Laurel, ZPacks, Six Moons, Henry Shires, etc. to see f they will be there and will set aside a couple for you.

Most places in SoCal you will not find a branch to use as a support pole or 
a tree to tie to.  A couple of companies sell lightweight carbon fiber tarp 
poles for those who don't like to use trekking poles.  They are in the 
range of 2-3oz.
