[pct-l] Getting To The Southern Terminus On The Weekend From SD Without A Car?

Hi All --

I didn't have much luck searching the archives so if this has been covered
somewhere please let me know.
The much-vaunted 894 bus doesn't run on the weekend and I'd prefer not to
wait until Monday if possible.  What other sorts of informal/semi-formal
options might there be short of hitchiking to get from anywhere in the San
Diego area to anywhere near the Southern Terminus?  This will be in late
December so I don't imagine there will be many other hikers heading that
way.
