[pct-l] Camping at Campo?

I will be starting what I hope will be a thru hike later this month and want to begin very earlt before dawn at the southern terminus . So I'd like to stay overnight there in Campo in order to be well rested for the first 30 mile day. Yogi seemed to indicate it is unsafe to camp in Campo but it is unclear to me what other options exist. Anyone have ideas?
