[pct-l] Can you be billed for search and rescue in California

I don't think Washington State will charge for the Bird to come, find and
pull you out of the woods. As said in other posts....other smaller
emergency transport services may charge but not the angels who do SAR. Best
to have a buddy when you are out in the middle of nowhere so if something
unthinkable does happen you have some one to help save you. Broken ankle,
no PLB......who ya gonna call. ?  Never be leary of being charged. It's
your life.
