[pct-l] No resupply in Lone Pine?

Trail Pass is only 1000' drop and a couple miles from the PCT to
Horseshoe Meadows, which is at 10,000'. It's the highest trailhead in
the Sierra (I believe). Hitching out is hit and miss - kind of like
Onion Valley - it's all day hikers or campers or horse people. As Brick
said, there are no quotas as there are at Cottonwood Pass/Lakes
Trailhead. You can hitch or take a taxi or a shuttle back to Horseshoe
Meadows from Lone Pine.

When you get back on the trail hiking south you'll be ridge walking with
stupendous views to the west. Just before you enter Sequoia National
Park there is a tarn a couple hundred yards up and 200' vertical east of
the trail that makes for a great camp. It's on all the maps. It was my
favorite campspot on that stretch of the trail - way above the trail and
isolated - big views of Whitney Meadow and beyond to the Kern River
Canyon and the Great Western Divide further west... Can't beat that area...
