You will need to replace shoes and socks, but I would buy them online
as you go, as your feet will probably grow, and if you are not an
ultra runner already with lots of experience, you will likely decide
along the way that you want to change your shoes to a different model

Also, keep in mind that you may want a different kit from the Sierra
north, than you do in SoCal. With Amazon and Zappos and the internet,
there is no need to stock up on stuff that you may want to change.
