Correct. The 1st photo does not show trash. Rather, it illustrates how
hikers take over the picnic tables. That's only fair; those tables are there
for the customers of the store and the burger shack. Haven't met a hiker
there yet who didn't stop at one or both. The 2nd illustrates the number of
hikers currently in the store. Packs aren't allowed inside, and there is no
known criticism of them being neatly propped against the outside walls. This
is as it should be.

The future closing of the gas station COULD be due to environmental factors,
such as potentially leaking underground tanks. The Mountain Shop closing
could just be the vendor deciding the hassle and/or costs of dealing with
the NPS and their requirements wasn't worth the effort expended for the
return obtained, or the NPS has other plans for the space and won't renew
the lease. Either way, neither should have any connection to the presence or
absence of PCT/JMT hikers.

The pics don't show trash strewn about the grounds. Just one box with
something overflowing it. Doesn't look like much of a mess to me. Most
hikers are courteous and practice LNT. If a successful business wants to
close because of too much business from hikers, perhaps they shouldn't be in
business where hikers amble by!
