Go to google maps. Put in your start, and stop, and press the bus symbol.
In this case, you will find that Idyllwild is not the easiest for public
transportation. But, Palm springs is ( and you can use the tram to get to
the PCT at the same location with much less effort. )

I did it for you here:

In and out of LAX is even easier. Note, you can easily adjust the day and
time if you want to do that. Sometimes, it drastically changes the options,
by the way.

Here is the same for Wrightwood and Ontario. Cajon Pass is even easier, and
LAX is as easy or easier than Ontario.

I might be wrong, but the internet works about the same in SC as it does
here in the SF Bay area. :-)

There might be options in and out of Idyllwild, but I kept striking out in
terms of public options when I was trying to get in and out of there.

Planning on picking up my next section from Idyllwild to Wrightwood
beginning May 1, 2016, and ending about May 20. Any ideas/recommendations on
getting to and from those points to Ontario Airport (looks to be closest
airport served by major carriers)?? The Manns in San Diego took all the work
out of it last year! Note: I live in SC, so am not familiar with transport
options in Calif.
