Just one thing, don't ignore the the Canadian Entry Permit, even if you are
a Canadian Citizen. The law as written requires all persons entering Canada
to do so at a Port of Entry (regardless of citizenship). The Permit allows
you to enter Canada by way of the PCT, but you do need the permit in order
to be permitted do so. Crossing on the PCT without a permit, even if you
are Canadian, could still be treated as an illegal entry.

Also, it's free. Furthermore, following the rules means that this option
will continue to exist for later years of hikers (in other words, if large
numbers of people start ignoring the PCT Canada Entry permit, the CBSA will
likely remove that option and there would be no legal way to enter Canada,
like there isn't for the US.

P.s. For those folks who watch Border Patrol and may have heard the term:
It should be noted that although you have Right of Entry into Canada, but
you can only exercise this right at a PoE.
