[pct-l] The MYTH Continues: Section F Questions

Aloha Good People,
I’m now in the no-kidding planning stage for the next section of my MYTH—Section F. I scouted it a bit last September after I bailed at Tehachapi from my planned SEC E + SEC F hike because the Mojave crossing was miserably and morale-drainingly hot. As a former Bakersfield resident (no jokes), I forgot how hot, like Africa hot, it can still be in Mojave in late September. But I did see my first SOBO ever (Shades, if I recall) and some wild horses in Oak Creek Canyon so that was cool. Anyway, I’m shooting for the first week of April. Minus the episodic crazed gunman, I’m wondering how this portion of the trail is doing. Has anyone negotiated the landslide areas and are they passable? I’m assuming it’s reasonable to think that the springs will be flowing in April. (I pack tons of water for desert sections, so I’m not going to freak out if they’re not.) Has anyone gone through this section in the late March/early April period? Realizing that most readers are not meteorologists, I am planning for blustery/rainy rather than snowy/blizzardy at the upper elevations—any general comments on likely weather (Other than weather is likely)? I stopped in at the trail angels at Walker Pass last September to say hello and pre-socialize a spring stay—has anyone stayed with them since fall-winter 2015? Any other relevant or marginally relevant thoughts? As always, I sincerely appreciate the feedback from this community. It’s pretty cool to have met a few of you here and there on the trail. Much Aloha, Fritz//Aiea, HI
