Looking at options for Memorial Day weekend, one would be to repeat 2002:

and backpack between Kennedy Meadows to Horseshoe Meadow, and another would be to repeat 2004:

between Jawbone Canyon Road and Walker Pass, except day hiking between two cars since the water caches
aren't there any more.

Which leads to the relevant dayhiker/section hiker questions:

Is the road to Horseshoe Meadow open/likely to be open for Memorial Day this year?

Is the road to Bird Spring Pass repaired yet? The PCTA shows it badly washed out a year ago.
Otherwise it looks like Yellow Jacket spring is it as far as water until Kelso Valley Road, a long
hot haul. Are any of the other roads between Bird Spring and Kelso Valley plausible for normal cars?
