Maybe at Kennedy Meadows South on Ray Day as was the original intention...That would keep the population down to only hikers and hard core supporters....

Breakaway!

Thanks for the suggestions.
I want to clarify that part of the reason I went rogue and spilled my guts
about the now defunct ADZPCTKO,
and a proposed quasi legitimate surrogate-
is that...
it was an indescribably amazing experience for THIS rookie,
which,
as I understand it,
is primarily what the main purpose was intended to be.

Hell yes!
Have a RUCK in lieu of a kickoff.
Same-Same to me.
Finding somewhere that can accommodate the anticipated crowds seems to be
an emerging issue?
There's a huge Boy Scout Camp 5 miles east of mile # 127,
at the end of Chihuahua Valley Road,
near trail angel Mike Herrerra's place,
that could work,
OR,
Warner Springs Community Center...
might work,
with their cooperation and approval.
AND,
if held a month earlier,
perhaps,
the Lake Morena County Park could still handle the event.

I would advocate for the last full weekend in March,
just to see if it helps to disperse the herd out on the trail.

Let's face it,
the times have changed,
and the population has swelled,
and maybe,
the kick off's purpose morphed/could of morphed,
into more than placing people at the doorstep of the Sierra,
at an optimum time,
and just maybe,
a part of it's newfound purpose,
could be to spread out the herd,
instead of concentrating it all at the end of April.

Straight up-
the kick off would have to be enough of a draw,
to attract a sufficient number of hikers,
to pay the bills.

Charging a fee is not out of the realm of possibilities.
Protocol says to pay $20 a night at a trail angel's house.
So be it.

A two night event = $40 (attendance) entry fee,
times the number of hikers.
Make sense?

Keepin' it real,

Paint

PS
People are going to party,
irrespective of an organization's purpose or preamble,
so let that subject matter travel it's own course.

And all the people said Amen!
