Given the conditions, it was probably a little premature to call out
SAR when they were only one day overdue. There's no way you're gonna
be able to hike 20 mile days if you walking in snow, some of it a foot
deep. So their taking an extra day or two to cover the distance would
have to be expected.<br>

However, that said, the hikers may not have indicated that in their
recent posts, so if we take them at their word figuring they know how
to estimate their own travel time, then calling out SAR when they were
overdue was not premature.<br>

In any case, I bet they are happy to be warm and dry, and happy that so
many folks were concerned about them.<br>
<br>
The big question is, after they've dried out and rested up, will they
continue?<br>
