My personal opinion is this:<br>

if you send a message to someone or reply to someone without including
the PCT list, then generally the responses should stay off list.
Sometimes there are exceptions. One should use good judgment.<br>

but there are no guarantees.<br>

result of something I said to someone on their personal site; the
conversation originated with me, <strong>off line</strong>. They chose
to respond <strong>on line</strong>. The second was whereby I made a
comment on line that bothered someone who wrote the list with a copy to
me. I responded <strong>just to the sender</strong>, no copy to the
list. That person then posted the conversation on the list.</div>
