"self-supporting" trek (no re-supplies) and his starting pack weight was 86
pounds, and he says hisgear was rated as UL! He took 25 days of food,
shelter, fishing AND photography gear... So much for the "it's about

disagree with certain other PCT-Lers who have said a hike has be either
about hiking or about photography, take your pick, one or the other, but not
both... it can and will be about both, for me. I am at the point in my
life where I can afford to buy ultralight gear to offset the weight penalty
that so many perceive as excessive in a DSLR kit over a point-&-shoot,
