<DIV><FONT color=#000080>Thanks for the update on Recline. I have been
checking his trailjournal but nothing has been written since his plan for the
reroute. I know he was determine to finish at the monument. We met
Recline near Santiam Pass back on Labor Day weekend hoping to do some "late"
trail angeling. He is quite an interesting "guy" and we had fun following
his journal from there on.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT color=#000080>So excited to hear he reached Canada, hopefully
he'll fill us in on his journal soon.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>I got an email from Harriet yesterday and she had just talked to Recline"
and he had reached the northern terminus on 10/29....... On his web site he
had talked about walking from Skykomish west to where he could pick up another
road/trail towards the border. i suspect it was the Ross Lake area he was
headed for but because he wanted to end this hike at the monument he was able
to plow thru the snow to do so............ It will be interesting to see how
he did this with all the snow up in Washington but over the years others too
have had to reach Canada by way of Ross Lake. You can read about this in Karen
Berger's book.</DIV>
<DIV>Perhaps someone can do some research on this so in future years its
a reroute so folks do not have to bail out 100 miles or so from completion of
a thru hike.</DIV>
