I'm a bit new to the ultralight gear, so my experience with GG products
is just one summer long. I bought the GG Mariposa Plus at the
beginning of the summer, had it out a few times, and I'm pleased with
the quality so far. I went with the Plus because it's made with
slightly heavier fabric for an overall weight penalty of less than 2
ounces. However, I suspect the slightly lighter Mariposa would have
suited me fine. It might have made even more sense to go with the
Miniposa, just to force me to keep my pack small (and therefore light).<br>

Lighter weight fabrics need gentler handling than heavier ones, no
doubt about it. With these new lightweight packs, the old days of
sitting on my pack at rest breaks are gone... <br>

<div>Hello all, </div>

<div>what is the general consensus on gossamer gear? specifically the
backpacks. is it quality? will it come apart on me?</div>

<div>i will not have a real chance to test much stuff before i get
out there, and with the ultralight backpacks, i wonder: what are they
saving on to make it so light? i guess if i keep the base weight of my
gear ultra-light, the pack will hold up, but i just wanted to get some
kind of "community vote" on this (for example, no one talks poorly
about marmot precip jacket, or vasque sundowner boots, or MSR stoves,
etc...) </div>

<div>is gossamer risky?</div>
