SB-

You are correct! I'm an old "newbie" and I was happy to get the info re: the MULE. Most interesting. But too pricey as usual.

I climbed Mt. Whitney a few years ago, in just the manner you describe. Spur of the moment decision. Didn't have the proper gear. Did my first ever glissade coming off the mountain. Bad, bad move. I'll write the gory details another time, but suffice it to say that a man died the next week, doing the same thing in the same spot that I glissaded. His wife had to be airlifted out. It was quite the ordeal. Instead, take all those annoying steps that you took up, to get back down. Much safer. Even with new knees.

Wheeew

Hiker97@aol.com wrote:

We old timers need to keep the youngsters informed. Say, I will not need a M.U.L.E. for Mt. Whitney after my knee surgery Friday. I will
probably just do a day hike up and back with a small daypack. No problem at all. The M.U.L.E. will be for some of the senior folks on this List who need mechanical assistance.
