<DIV>I used a Palm Treo 750 last year on the PCT as my all purpose unit. I
journaled on it during trips using Word then uploaded them to my internet
journal while in town. Very easy and I generally had good cell
coverage in resupply towns. I also loaded GPS software on the Palm
and carried a 2 oz Earthmate GPS unit (bluetooth). Generally, I didn't
find GPS necessary, but it was useful in a couple instances, and I enjoyed
marking my camps and other key locations. I liked having phone,
journaling, GPS, weather, ebooks, Word (journal) and Excel (trip and resupply
plans), as well as low res camera and video, all on one unit. </DIV>
