<DIV>I am new to this site as well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I hiked the AT a year after I retired in 2006 and my wife (retired as well) stayed home. She was not all to pleased when I said I wanted to hike the AT, however, once on the trail she became the best (bar none) resupply support person in the world. She also came out for a mid-hike visit, which she had been adamant about not doing. I think keeping your spouse engaged in the hike planning and logistics plus communication from town goes a long way towards keeping them feeling part of the adventure. We did go for two dayhikes on the AT before I left and that helped as well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am thru-hiking the PCT this year. We have gone through the same process from disbelief to involvement as last time and I think things will work out fine.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now I'm not to sure about the CDT in 2010...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
