Greenbriar, Since this is for car camping, I would suggest a stainless steel
percolator available at Wal-Mart, if you use a regular campstove for car
camping. I have had one for some time, and it makes good coffee. Its
simple enough. Just put your water in the pot the night before, and place
the coffee in the little basket first thing next morning. Place on
campstove till it perks, or over campfire if you're not using a big stove.
When finished, dump the coffee grounds, and rinse out the pot and basket.

I do love having good coffee when I'm camping, and if I have electricity at
the campground, then I also take my regular drip coffee maker from home, but
the percolator does a good job when I'm in a National park or forest. I'm
still searching for a good way to make coffee on the trail, that's not too
much work and doesn't weigh much at all. So far, nothing has really been
satisfactory.

More advice needed. I am being Christmas gifted a coffee gadget of my
choice. This would be for car camping, I have no intention of carrying the
thing over mountains, so weight is not really a factor. Quality of
produced coffee is the major requirement, with ease of use (after all,
this IS first thing in the morning), ease of cleaning, etc also needing
consideration. I would like it to work with just boiled water.

What have you all tried that you like?
