Ah...I just revised my stove doc that goes over the various pros and cons of popular backpacking stoves:

Long story short: The Jet Boil is great if you want convenience and speed and don't mind paying a hefty price
and a weight penalty.

The alchol stove is good for short carries and for "boil only" type meals.
