[at-l] The kindness of hikers

Boy that brings back memories of the cold-freezing-rain-on-top-of-snow winter
night, quite a few years ago, when an "O" ring in mine gave out.

I kicked it out the shelter (yeh, I know, but it was freezing rain and the
shelter did even get a scorched place) and watched it turn firry circles on
the ice, until it slid into a post-holed bootprint.

Chainsaw

FWIIW -- come daylight I retrieved it and, with the help of a repair kit, it
worked for the rest of the weekend.

BTW -- Anyone else remember the unshielded rubber tube version?

I had the same cracking -- it leads to interesting flames shooting out from
the fuel bottle. (Ask me how I know this....) I just bought the new pump --
but it was $25 a few years ago. For $35 I might just use my alcohol or
canister stove.
