Two weeks ago the ice was declared out on Crystal Lake and a couple
of days later it was out on the big lake, Winnipesaukee. Three days
later the Loons arrived back at Crystal Lake and two day after that i
saw my first water skiers of the season. The water temp is around 40
degrees so when she stop skiing and dropped into the water she
holler'd up sump'm fierce. Yesterday the temp reached 88 degrees
setting all time records all over the state. All of the ski areas
have closed for the season but there is tons of snow in the mountains
still> I can see Franconia Ridge glowing white in the distance every
morning when I drive in to Laconia. Mount Washington shows up from a
different vantage point also covered in snow. Guess that's why they
are called the White Mountains. Looks like we will have three more
days of warm/hot weather before we get back to normal spring temps in
the 50's. The bad side of this is the warm weather has brought out
the black flies something fierce. But maybe a couple of below
freezing night will kill a lot of them off.
