Oddly enough, one of the root words of 'kin', the Gothic word 'kuni', was
also the last name of an early end-to-ender, who had to end his first
through-hike in Vermont, although to answer your question, probably not,
since the Old English language influence in the South is probably much
greater than in Vermont, although, Kinsman Notch isn't very far from
Vermont. The way folks move around, it's possible that you could get a copy
editor or writer from TN working in VT, and they could forget where they
were for a moment....what a horrible, sad story.
