Many years ago I gave a shuttle to a section hiker that was hiking with Ram Bunny. Ms. Bunny was using the AT Data book. She had filled the margins with information which she assumed she obtained from various other sources. I am a section hiker and I usually carry a 5 x 6 index card, folded in half, containing information gleamed from a variety of sources. On longer hikes I carry the data book from 1999. I am going to replace it this year as the trail has changed a lot in the last ten years and besides there is a lot of history that I do not want to lose.

Even though I am an editor of the companion, I am not too picky about where I get my information. I know how fast things can change on the trail. I am really interested in looking at Appalachian Pages, there may be some new things to learn. So let us stop arguing and celebrate that there is a nes publication with a different perspective of the trail.
