[at-l] More on spring NH hiker rescue, fines for the Whites

Thanks, Rockdancer, for the story.
I wonder what Art of NH (2004 AT) thinks of this. Is he he still on the
list? I think I saw a post recently.

"Acerno said they were billed because they didn't tell anyone where they
planned to hike and didn't have proper equipment, especially a flashlight."

Food for thought: So now AT thruhikers will be considered negligent if they
don't carry a flashlight?
Would a maglight do? A headlamp? A photon?

I know the Whites are not to be trifled with - and were my favorite part,
along with southern Maine) - but this "deemed essential" part part gives one
pause to speculate upong the future.

The thruhiker or 2030: further burdened by 35 more pounds of "deemed
essential gear."
