My first was on the first day of a hike. Three of us were sitting on the floor of the shelter. I said "someone's feet really stink" & realized I was the only one who had his shoes off.

In Manchester for resupply... but ran into a young woman farther north who was doing the LT as a test for the AT (She got the answer "No" unfortunately...
 
But it gave me an idea for a thread... "firsts" on the trail.
 
Her first was the first day spent hiking all day in her rainsuit, and unzipping that evening was surprised that she could possibly smell that way.
 
My first would have been the first day of hanging dirty socks on the back of the pack to air, smelling something evil, and eventually realizing that the smell was following me (but no one else was...)  <g>
