My dictionary says: 
"A case or frame attached to a wall to serve as a bed, as in a ship; a berth"
 
Implying - one bunk = one bed. 
 
As I said -YMMV. Or alternatively, it depends on your dictionary and your level of anal retentiveness.  
 
But the final answer is this - if you're gonna come to the Ruck, do they have a "bunk" for you? 
Or did you wait too long to call?  
 
Of course, if you're going to camp at the Ruck or if you're not coming to the Ruck the entire 
discussion is moot.

As in all things and especially word problems, the key is definition of terms.  So here our term is "bunk" and our definition is..  what?  Depending on usage, the word "bunk" can mean one bed-like platform or two stacked.  (In other usage as we've noted, the number stacked can be more than two).  So to know what we're talking about, the term has to be further defined with explanation.  In my limited memory, only having been there once, Bears Den has both single "bunks" and double-bunks.  So to get the actual number of sleeping spots, more detail is needed!
I've got broad shoulders and a happy heart, so pick away!

Not meaning to pick on you Jim, but you're convenient.  So... just to settle the dust here - if 
the number of bunks is "X", then "X" is the number of people who can sleep in those bunks.  
No matter how high they're stacked.   In high school algebra they used to call that a word 
problem.

As a Marine and having been transported by the Navy, I saw far higher then quads – e.g., 18 inches apart, canvas stretched with ropes inside a pipe rectangle, & hung by chains on one side so they could be folded up.
