[cdt-l] Hiking the Highline Route????

I started July 1st and was able to most of the Highline Route.  Ahern Drift and the Cattle Queen was considered by the rangers to be for ice axe AND crampon
use only. Obviously, this situation can change from year to year.

To avoid the above, I took the FlatTop Mtn trail off the Highline Trail, dropped into the valley, and hooked up near the Highline Trail again near the Granite Peak Chalet.

The route was spectacular (even the valley). I did not want to putz around with an ice axe and crampons, so that is why I chose the route I did.
