Mags and others--

It may be worth  pointing out another possibility in the snow transport
category, namely full mukluks, e.g. Steger, and BC skis with Berwin
bindings.  See Akers-ski.com.  This system is lightweight, warm, and
comfortable.  It works well for dry cold snow conditions in mild terrain.
If you are faced with wet snow, rain, steep downhills, or tangled forests, I
would do something else.
