[Cdt-l] yellowstone

Others will probably reply with more specifics, but in general, you
should be able to do this over the phone just before you start... and at
that point, you'll only be a day or two out of Yellowstone & should know
your schedule fairly well.

I'm not sure if they "keep spots open", but most hikers have not had a
problem getting a schedule together a few days in advance. You might not
get all the sites you'd prefer, but you should be able to get something
that works. The reality is that even when all the sites are "fully
booked" on paper, it's rare to see them "fully occupied" on the ground.
I'm not sure why that is.

One other thing - it can depend greatly on "who you get on the phone".
Some rangers are a lot more knowledgeable of the CDT & hikers, and
understanding of your situation. Others not so much. So, consider
calling back at a different time or asking to speak to someone else in
the office if you're not getting anywhere.

Good luck!
