[Cdt-l] First time

Hello. I am extremely interested in doing a partial trek. Only a month out. I would like to head north and end at Twin Butte in Canada. 
I am overwhelmed and would like some advise on how to plan for this. At least just a finger in the right direction. Where to start basically.
