Jim,
Take the advise from the deadliest bazooka gunner in Vietnam....forget the
bazooka....take a flame thrower instead.
The bazooka will blast the mountain lion into smitter bits there will be
nothing left.
Now, the flame thrower will turn the cat int an instant deep roasted feline
feast.
You could leave your stove behind and create instant roast meals with the
pull of the trigger.
You would also be safe from trail ruffians like switchback the pirate.
He will hide in the bushes when he sees you coming with the smoking flame
thrower or he will run like a rabbit after getting his rear end smoked.

May I recommend you also take a fire extinguisher (the 5 gallon type) so you
can extinguish any forest fires you might start with the flame thrower.

I hope this most useful information will benefit all hikers into
understanding how to better defend themselves against the beast of prey
stalking innocent hikers along the PCT.
