MY vision is horrible also. I can't give you feedback on transition lenses because I carry a pair of prescription sunglasses. The upside of the extra weight is that if your regular glasses break (as they did to me on the AT in 94) you aren't left blind until you get them fixed. Jack AT94 PCT 01
