I have to agree with you Roy. I walked with my pack on for practice last week, not far, only about 6 miles, and wore my jogging shoes (Reeboks). My right foot KILLED for a week after........across the top of my foot, like from toe to where leg joins ankle. I've done a lot of hiking and never had a pain like that. I also finished watching a video about the PCT where a lot of hikers were interviewed and said they had to go with hiking boots, as trail runners/ tennies didn't work for them.

I know it's "politically incorrect" to tout a brand of boots that aren't "trendy" or "yuppie", but the truth is I have had the best luck with Hi-Tec boots. They're well built, light weight and very comfortable. I'll be using them for my hike next year.

I will say this though......I tried on a pair of Hi-Tec trail runners and yuck! No good.

I had problems with support with my NBs' this pass year and so did a few other heavier hikers. I would like to hear from other hikers on this subject. But, I am going back to light or mid-weight hiking boots for the added support.
