[pct-l] Joshua Tree traverse

Hey Andy,

Nice to see your emails. We met briefly on your tour at REI San Diego. I
was the guy wearing a shirt and pants (stupid joke about trying to remember
one person in hundreds). Glad to see you are still at it.

Joshua Tree:
To traverse Joshua Tree there is really only one option that I know of, the
California Riding and Hiking Trail. The CRHT passes through about 50 miles
(if memory serves me). Since the route does not contain too much elevation
change, the East to West route is slightly more challenging as it is a net
gain. Also, the West end contains more topo lines and plant diversity.
This means when hiking east to west the hike becomes more interesting as you
go. If you look at a topo you will see the trail crosses a road about every
10 miles (+/-). This makes for a very easy water cache process.

If you are there in early April, we may bump into each other, as I will be
there again.

I hope that is useful information.

BillB (your trailname here)

I'm plotting an east-west/west-east traverse of Joshua Tree National Park
during either early-April or early-May. If anyone has extensive experience
in the park's backcountry, or knows of someone who does, please contact me
directly if you (or they) would be willing to help me plot out a good route.
Thanks.

Andy
