Mon Ami:

Take the INYO Mono Transit bus running between Lone Pine and Bishop Monday through Friday. (760-872-1901 or 1-800-922-1930. Buses leave Statham Hall at 6:30 am, 8:30 am, and 5:00 pm; arrive at Bishop KMart at 7:40 am, 9:40 am, and 6:10 pm.

After an overnight stay in Bishop, you can connect with the 7:00 am CREST bus to Reno on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday. Get off at Mammoth Lakes at 7:50 am.

Catch the YARTS shuttle from Mammoth Lakes to Yosemite Valley. Unfortunately, it leaves before you can get there so you have to stay overnight again and catch it in the morning. Stay at Mammoth Mountain Inn and catch the shuttles up to Red's Meadow, spending the day sight-seeing and trail route investigating. Catch shuttle back to MMI for the night. YARTS starts from there at 7:00 am.

Optionally, you could take a private shuttle from Lone Pine to Mammoth. You'd still have to stay overnight in Mammoth, but the savings from the overnight in Bishop should about pay for the shuttle service. Call John at 760-876-4545 and inquire as to the rate. Whitney Portal to Onion Valley used to be $55.

Bon chance,
