[pct-l] Strange news story

When we hiked up the Gila on our CDT the frog eggs had hatched. The
tadpoles, some with back legs, were 8 inches long and a couple inches in
diameter where the hot springs flowed into the river. That looked like a
major, but gelatinous, dinner to me! Mmmm, protein.

(We were on a different branch of the Gila that the rescued hiker, though.)

Our son saw the story and wanted to know what our plan is if we get trapped
by high water. It's hard to say. Carolyn Dorn was successful with her
strategy. Brian Frankel tells of a different solution when he was trapped by
high water on the Dirty Devil and fashioned a "raft". I guess it's good to
think about scenarios and solutions now.

Extending a two week outing into a 5 week outing is a strong testimony to
this gal's outdoor skills! I look forward to learning how she managed.

Well, you see, actually, she *had* a dog when she started the trip..... ;)

Seriously, that is a bizarre story.
